SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS

Approve the Academic Student Select Enrollment Agreement with Educational Resources to Provide Microsoft Select Software for Student and Employee Purchase.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Microsoft Select software products are available using a partnership with FACE (Florida Association for Computers in Education), Educational Resources as the local Microsoft reseller for the state, and JourneyEd. Through this agreement, students, certified/non-certified teachers, faculty and staff can purchase for personal use nine Microsoft products at significant savings off the retail price. For example, retail prices for Microsoft Office Pro at CompUSA are $425.00 (on sale) and $500.00 from Best Buy. The price using this agreement is $89.00 with similar savings on the other eight products. The purchase is limited to one copy per product per student/employee.

JourneyEd manages the online store, provides marketing materials for the District (sample attached), and assures we remain in compliance with Microsoft’s terms. Orders are placed online at JourneyEd’s website www.journeyed.com/edresources. They handle the entire transaction online and ship the product directly to the customer. There is no charge to the District for using the services from JourneyEd. A quarterly report from JourneyEd shows the number of purchases from the District with $8.00 from each qualifying purchase returned to the District.

When the District’s Microsoft Select Agreement with Educational Resources is renewed in June, this partnership will be discontinued through the state FACE agreement and a direct partnership initiated with the District for these products. This will increase the amount to the District from $8.00 to $10.00 for each product purchased.

ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)

All goals and critical success factors are addressed.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: No)

All students and employees are eligible for the program. If 10 percent of all students and employees purchase one product, it will yield an approximate return of $224,000. Nine products increases the potential return which could be much higher or lower depending on participation.

EVALUATION

The number of products sold and the amount of dollars returned to the District will be reported on a quarterly basis.
