EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The SLC Conference addresses the professional development needs of administrators, classroom teachers, and guidance counselors to continue the momentum of school restructuring. The conference is designed to reinforce best practices, retrain involved teachers, and inform additional teachers in Grades 10-12. The conference complements and promotes the philosophy of Professional Learning Communities as a means to promote student success. There will be a total of 21 sessions with topics of sustainability, parental involvement, and educational strategies for students in poverty and speakers of other languages as well as postsecondary articulation and national high school reform strategies. The SLC Conference will target the SLC Implementation sites (Chamberlain, East Bay, Leto, and Wharton high schools) and will accommodate other high school personnel who have begun the process of restructuring and reforming commensurate with the philosophy of SLC.
