SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS

Approve Fee Schedule for EMPLOYEE CHILD CARE PROGRAM, Family and Consumer Sciences Early Childhood Education Program, Effective July 1, 2006 (Technical and Career Education)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The employee child care program is offered at Leto and Plant City High Schools and these centers are open from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. on a 201-day calendar. The centers are inspected and licensed by the Department of Children and Families and are self-supporting from fees collected from parents/guardians. Employee salaries and costs of operation have increased. The fees have not increased since July 1999 and the recommended fee schedule effective July 1, 2006, includes an increase of $20 per week as follows:

High school students of the Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) Early Childhood Education program conduct the educational portion of the child care program 3 hours daily and adult district child care employees oversee the operation when students and the FACS teacher are not in class.

ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)

All District Goals and Critical Success Factors.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

The Family and Consumer Science Employee Child Care program is designed to be self-supporting from fees collected from parents/guardians. The increase in fees will balance the revenue with the increased operational expenses.
