Approve Renewal Agreements for Educational Services with Apprenticeship Committees, Learey Technical Center, 2006/2007 – Various (Adult Technical Education)

For more than 14 years, the School District of Hillsborough County has had active educational agreements with building trades apprenticeship committees for adult job training programs. During 2005-2006, approximately 1,350 apprentices attended classes through Learey and Tampa Bay Technical Centers.

Renewal Educational Agreements have been developed to continue to provide training for 13 building trades apprenticeship committees. The apprenticeship committees are compensated $2,000 for each Occupational Completion Point (OCP) earned by each program the previous year. The contracted funds are used to cover instructor salaries/benefits; program promotion; instructional materials and supplies; equipment upgrade, replacement and repair; other supervisory and administrative costs to include, but not limited to, lease expenses for classroom facilities and equipment, travel, mileage, conferences, and professional meetings.

The total estimated amount of $1,800,665 will be included in the divisional general operating budget. The training programs generate Workforce Development Funds.
