Approve Agreement for Technical Services with Jennifer Edmunds to Coordinate and Oversee Eight Imagination Station Reading Program Sites - $7,588.10 (Curriculum and Instruction Division)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Imagination Station Reading Program is an internet delivered supplemental reading intervention program for students in kindergarten through third grade funded through the Innovative Reading Pilot Grant awarded to the District by the Florida Department of Education.

Jennifer Edmunds, a Reading Coach at Oak Park and Dunbar Elementary Schools, will oversee and facilitate the implementation of The Imagination Station Reading Program at seven District Summer Reading Camp sites. The sites are Hunters Green, Cannella, Schmidt, Tampa Palms, Pinecrest, Valrico, and Lake Magdalene Elementary Schools. This summer implementation will provide continued reading intervention and support for identified K-3 students who were part of the initial implementation of Imagination Station.

ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)

Goal 1 - The percentage of students scoring at Level 3 or higher on FCAT Reading will increase a minimum of 5 percentage points.
Goal 5 – The District will close the FCAT achievement gap by a minimum of 10 percentage points as reported by No Child Left Behind.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

Funds of $7,588.10 are available through the Innovative Reading Pilot Grant, Project 1047.
