SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve All Title I Projects and Funds, Based on Final Approval from the State, for the 2006-2007 School Year (Student Services and Federal Programs Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Title 1 funds will provide resources to support educational programs for approximately 80,000 children in 114 School-wide Program schools (see attached list), 14 institutions for delinquent children, 9 institutions for neglected children, 22 non-public institutions, 5 eligible migrant funded high schools, 5 eligible migrant funded middle schools and 12 eligible migrant funded elementary schools. The District has received only preliminary allocations for each Title I Project. The preliminary allocations, which may include any roll-forward amounts, are as follows:
- Title I Basic Funds in the Amount of $53,000,000 (Approximately)
- Title I Delinquent Funds in the Amount of $950,000 (Approximately)
- Title I Migrant Funds in the Amount of $1,541,255 (Approximately)
- Title I Migrant PASS (Portable Assisted Study Sequence) Funds in the Amount of $240,000 (Approximately)
ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)
Goal 5- The District will close the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) achievement gap by a minimum of 10% as reported by No Child Left Behind.
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)
This item is included in the District Special Revenue/Federal Programs Budget. This project will provide approximately $55,731,255 in federal funds under Title I.
EVALUATION
By September 1, 2007, a comprehensive evaluation of the 2006-07 Title I Project will be completed. The evaluation will determine the impact that Title I funds had in increasing student achievement at eligible schools. The information will be used to better prioritize and direct federal dollars toward programs and initiatives that are closing current achievement gaps.
