SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve Agreement for Technical Services for School Improvement Network to Provide a "Train-the-Trainer" Session for Selected Trainers (Student Services and Federal Programs Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This is a two-day (7 hours per day) "Train-the-Trainer" workshop titled "Classroom Instruction That Works." This course will provide participants with key information about the categories of instructional strategies and how to use them in the classroom. Throughout the workshop, participants reflect on their current practice and self-assess their own understanding of the strategies. Participants' goals for this workshop are to (1) know generalizations from research and recommendations and (2) understand how all nine categories of strategies can be embedded in classroom curriculum design. School Improvement Network will conduct a "train-the-trainer" session for approximately 15 selected trainers on June 29 - 30, 2006. In return, these trainers will offer this course through the school year to any teacher (K-12) currently working in a Title I school.
ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)
Goal 5 - The District will eliminate the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) achievement gap by a minimum of 10 percentage points as reported by No Child Left Behind.

By May 1, 2007, all participants will complete an effectiveness survey to determine if the course designed by School Improvement Network had a positive impact on their classroom instruction and student learning.
