SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS

Approve Renewal of Memorandum of Agreement Between the School District of Hillsborough County and the Hillsborough County Health Department for Comprehensive Grant Dollars. This Memorandum of Agreement is in Effect July 1, 2006, through June 30, 2007 (Student Services & Federal Programs Division)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

This memorandum of agreement provides the School Board with 14 registered nurses to work in schools under the direct supervision of the Supervisor of School Health Services and following the State of Florida Best Practices Guidelines. The program supervision will be responsible for hiring and evaluating the nurses hired under this program. The nurses are governed by the Hillsborough County School Board. These registered nurses are paid by the Health Department and by the Health Department's salary and fringe schedules. The nurses are paid $168 per day for 211 days with an annual fringe of $8,956 (26%) to total $44,404.00. The total combined salary for all 14 nurses would be $621,656.

The balance of $30,784.00 will be used for training and vicinity travel from site to site.

Goal 5 – The District will eliminate the FCAT achievement gap by a minimum of 10 percentage points as reported by No Child Left Behind.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

Funds of $652,440.00 – Federal Title XXI dollars are provided by the County Health Department.

EVALUATION

The annual report and plan are submitted to the Department of Health in September. Data is collected from monthly reports submitted by school nurses.
