SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS

Approve the Contract Between OAO Technology Solutions, Inc. and the Hillsborough County Public Schools Effective July 1, 2006 (Student Services and Federal Programs Division)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The use of federal dollars flowing through OAO Technology Solutions, Inc., provides reimbursement to Hillsborough County Public Schools for child care and early education services for children of Hillsborough County participants who are enrolled in employment and training activities sponsored by the Workforce Investment Act. The contract commences on July 1, 2006 and is in effect through June 30, 2007.

ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)

Goal 5 - The district will eliminate the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) achievement gap by a minimum of 10 percentage points as reported by No Child Left Behind.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

Federal funds totaling $50,000 are contracted through OAO Technology Solutions, Inc. for the provision of early education and child care services for children of families eligible for Workforce Investment Act employment and training activities. With the annual average cost of child care at $3,800 per child, approximately 13 children will receive services during the contract term.

EVALUATION

An annual program performance report is required within 30 days of completion of the contract year’s activity. Said report will be provided to the board as the evaluation tool to measure the efficacy of this contractual agreement.
