SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the Resolution in Support of the No Child Left Behind Improvement Act of 2006, HR5709.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) was signed into law by President Bush in January 2002. Our Hillsborough County Public Schools have had four years of implementing NCLB. The United States House of Representatives is considering legislation (HR5709) that will modify NCLB. We, as a district, support and encourage other local community and civic leaders to support the No Child Left Behind Improvement Act of 2006, HR5709.
ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)
Goal 5. The district will close the FCAT achievement gap by a minimum of 10 percentage points as reported by No Child Left Behind.
