Approve Agreement for Technical Services with Janne S. Boone to Provide Reading Coach Services, 2006/2007 - $12,817.20 (Curriculum and Instruction Division)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Grady, Seminole, and Shore Elementary Schools do not have a staff Reading Coach assigned. An Agreement for Technical Services with Ms. Janne S. Boone for $12,817.20 for the period September 6, 2006, through May 24, 2007, has been developed to provide support services to Grady, Seminole, and Shore Elementary Schools.

This provider was a successful Reading Coach for Hillsborough District for five years prior to retiring and will provide professional expertise to support these three schools. Services will include on-site staff development; assistance to school reading leadership teams with school-wide and grade-level support and guidance; model lessons for follow-up to training modules; and coaching individual teachers to strengthen implementation of strategies and techniques presented in training. The work plan and performance of this provider will be monitored by site-based administrators as well as members of the district reading team.

ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)

Goal 1 - The percentage of students scoring at Level 3 or higher on FCAT reading will increase a minimum of 5 percentage points.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

Funds of $12,817.20 are included in district categorical funds through Project 4603 - Supplemental Academic Instruction, Intensive Reading.
