APPROVAL OF SCHEMATIC DESIGN PHASE

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

On April 4, 2006, the Board approved the appointment of Fleischman Garcia Architects for architectural services. The scope of work provides for campus-wide replacement of the electrical distribution system. Branch panels and light fixtures will be replaced at most buildings. Walkway lighting will be added, where required. New fire alarm, telephone, and clock systems will be installed throughout the facility. Mechanical work includes replacement of the obsolete air conditioning systems at Administration and Building 9. Replacement of exhaust fans and other various upgrades will be made throughout the campus. Plumbing work includes replacing most plumbing fixtures and electric water coolers throughout the campus to provide Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessibility. Interior work consists of the demolition and refinishing of finishes including vertical blinds. Many of these tasks are the result of the demolition required for the mechanical and electrical work. Flooring problems at Building 1 will be corrected and the Administrative Suite reconfigured for improved operations. Student Dining will be expanded to include a multipurpose room with stage and a Faculty Dining addition. New lever handle hardware will be provided on all interior doors. Most exterior doors will be replaced with new hollow metal doors. The main entrance and most restrooms will be made ADA accessible. ADA signage will be provided throughout the campus. Exterior work includes reroofing of Buildings 1 and 3 and brick walls repointed at Buildings 1, 3-6, and 9. Minor site work consists of replacing a majority of the site fencing.

Approval of the schematic design phase will allow the architect to proceed with design development documents. Project completion is scheduled for December 2007.
