SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS

Approve the Agreement for Technical Services with Kagan Professional Development Group, Who Will Provide Professional Development Training for Teachers in Title I Schools (Student Services and Federal Programs Division)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Kagan Professional Development Group will provide a workshop on the initial structures for Cooperative Learning. This one-day workshop will give teachers the strategies for creating a cooperative learning environment through teambuilding. Teachers will also be given classroom arrangement tips and ways to promote higher-level thinking skills within any curricular area. This workshop will be available to any teacher (including Charter Schools) who is currently working in a Title I school.

ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)

Goal 5- The District will eliminate the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) achievement gap by a minimum of 10 percentage points as reported by No Child Left Behind.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

The total amount of $14,280 will be paid using Title I funds.

EVALUATION

Anticipated: By October 30, 2006, all participants will complete an opinionnaire designed to measure the quality of the training provided by Kagan Professional Development Group. By May 23, 2007, all participants will be asked to complete an effectiveness survey to determine if the professional development provided by Kagan Professional Development Group had a positive impact on student learning and the culture of the teacher's classroom.
