Recognition of the Mayor's Beautification Program, Learning to Grow-Growing to Learn, Mini Grant Program. A Service Learning Initiative (Student Services and Federal Programs Division)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Mayor's Beautification Mini Grant Program, Learning To Grow-Growing To Learn, was established to help schools, youth service organizations and other nonprofit agencies working with youth in the City of Tampa to become meaningfully involved in real community issues. Funds are used to implement projects that are researched, designed and carried out by the students, giving them a sense of ownership and personal responsibility for the environment. The following schools and organizations (with Hillsborough County students involved) received the 2005-2006 Learning to Grow-Growing to Learn, Mini Grants:

ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)

Goal 3. Student performance on Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) Science will increase a minimum of five percentage points.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

This program has no financial cost to the District. The Mini Grant Program is funded by the City of Tampa Solid Waste Department.

EVALUATION

Each grantee had to complete an evaluation of their project and submit it to the Mayor's Beautification Program office.
