Approve Amendment of Lease with The Park at Bay Plaza Investors, LLC for Adult Education Classroom Space at Bay Plaza I, 2006/2007 $16,661.48 and 2007/2008 $17,199.96 (Adult and Community Education)

Since October 9, 2000, the School Board has leased 1,072 square feet of adult education classroom space at Bay Plaza I, 9225 Bay Plaza Boulevard, Suite 402, Tampa, Florida, 33619. The Amendment of Lease has been developed to ensure continuation of facilities usage for the period October 1, 2006, through September 30, 2007, at $1,388.54 per month; the rental for the period October 1, 2007, through September 30, 2008, will be $1,433.33 per month.

The Intensive Learning Center at Bay Plaza provides adult programs in adult basic education, GED preparation, and workplace readiness skills. During the 2005/2006 school year, there were 420 students enrolled in the adult education programs at Bay Plaza I with 203 completions. In addition, the One-Stop Center assists an average of 800 clients per month with educational and workforce opportunities.

The 2006/2007 monthly rental is $1,388.54 and funds of $16,662.48 are included in the divisional workforce education fund budget. The 2007/2008 monthly rental is $1,433.33 and funds of $17,199.96 will be included in the 2007/2008 divisional workforce education fund budget. These adult education programs generate workforce education funds that support program operating costs.
