SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS

Approve Activities Calendar for Career and Technical Student Organizations, 2006/2007 (Technical and Career Education)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSO) calendar is presented annually during the month of October. The attached calendar includes activities from the Executive Director of each CTSO, District Technical and Career Education Staff, and the Florida Department of Education. This document identifies activities for October 2006 through October 2007. CTSOs are co-curricular and are integral to the Technical and Career Education curriculum. Through involvement in CTSO activities that include competitive events, students are able to make meaningful career choices, reinforce academic and occupational knowledge, strengthen leadership skills, participate in career networking, and improve personal presentations skills. Membership in CTSOs rewards practical and academic learning. The business/industry community views our Technical and Career Education programs as a significant source of well-prepared employees.

Approval of this calendar expedites the procedure for students to participate in CTSO activities in-county and out-of-county and allows schools the option to participate. The extent of participation will be determined by available club and district funds.
