Approve the Memorandum of Agreement Between the Hillsborough County Public Schools and the Derrick Brooks Charities Youth Programs, Incorporated (formerly known as the Tampa Urban League) (Student Services and Federal Programs Division)

This Memorandum of Agreement is in effect February 14, 2007 through June 30, 2008. The staff of the Derrick Brooks Charities Youth Programs, Incorporated has requested permission to co-locate their youth development, training, housing, family support and economic development program at the Kimbell Full Service School. These after-school and evening programs will be co-located at Kimbell and the neighboring Lee Davis Neighborhood Service Center. The program of service will include self-esteem and communication skills sessions. The intent of these services is to increase student understanding of individual responsibilities and reinforce positive behavior management skills.

Goal 5 – The district will eliminate the FCAT (Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test) achievement gap by a minimum of 10 percentage points as reported by No Child Left Behind.

$15,000 annually – The Derrick Brooks Charities Youth Programs, Incorporated will partner with the Kimbell Full Service School and local community services to provide social services to youth and families. The District will provide space at Kimbell for staff and clients.

The Derrick Brooks Charities Youth Programs, Incorporated is responsible for program evaluations in this partnership. Program evaluation data is due to the Supervisor of School Social Work Services on July 31, 2008. This information will be shared with the Kimbell Full Service School partners and the school district.
