Adoption of Proclamation, "Black History Month" - February 2007 (Curriculum and Instruction Division)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Florida Governor Charlie Crist has proclaimed February as "Black History Month" in the state of Florida. Attached is a proclamation that Hillsborough County Public Schools will observe the month of February as "Black History Month."

In celebration, schools will recognize and honor the contributions and achievements of African-Americans. The observance of "Black History Month" commemorates the fact that our country and community have benefited from the contributions of African-Americans and celebrate their significant achievements.

ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)

Goal 1 - The percentage of students scoring at Level 3 or higher on FCAT reading will increase a minimum of 5 percentage points.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: No)

This agenda item has no additional cost to the District.
