SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the Agreement for Technical Services with Dr. Lloyd Zimet for the Completion of the Evaluation Component and the Development of a Comprehensive Plan for the Center for Disease Control (CDC) HIV Prevention Education Grant; Specifically, for the Interpretation and Evaluation of the Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) Data (Student Services and Federal Programs Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
For the past several years, Dr. Zimet has acted as the evaluation consultant for the CDC/HIV Prevention Education Grant. He is primarily responsible for the Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) results. The YRBS results are used for planning HIV classes for students, as well as, presentations of the findings for our partnering agencies and other organizations. Dr. Zimet will also be responsible for utilizing YRBS data to create frameworks, logic models, and behavioral objectives. The outcome of this work will develop educational interventions to reduce health risk behaviors (i.e. unintended pregnancy, contracting HIV, and other sexually transmitted diseases).
ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)
Goal 5 – The District will eliminate the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) achievement gap by a minimum of ten percentage points as reported by No Child Left Behind.
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)
Funding of $13,000 for this Agreement for Technical Services comes from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) HIV Education Prevention Grant.
EVALUATION
Evaluation occurs annually through site visits from CDC Program Managers and completion of CDC prescribed indicators of success. This evaluation includes data obtained from the survey indicating a reduction or increase of cases of HIV in our community. The report is on file in the Student Services Department at the Velasco Building
