Approve Amendment #1 of the School Readiness Program 6% Match Contract Between Hillsborough County School Readiness Coalition, Inc., Doing Business As Early Learning Coalition of Hillsborough County, and Hillsborough County Public Schools (Student Services and Federal Programs Division)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

This contract provides a portion of the required 6% match for the School Readiness Program making it possible to draw down $11,254,383 in federal funds. These funds provide child care and early education services for children from income eligible families. The term of this contract is October 1, 2006, through September 30, 2007. The funding increase in the amount of $95,000 is a result of the redistribution of Child Care Purchasing Pool dollars from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay contract. The redistributed funds will be utilized to meet the match requirement of the Child Care Purchasing Pool Program, which is an element of the School Readiness Program, and provides child care for low-income families.

ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)

Goal 5 – The District will eliminate the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) achievement gap by a minimum of ten percentage points as reported by No Child Left Behind.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

The contract total of $675,263 is being increased to $770,263 with the $95,000 increase being utilized as match for the Child Care Purchasing Pool program. All match funds are used only for direct services to children and will provide care for an additional 171 children through June 30, 2007.

EVALUATION
