SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve Renewal Membership Agreement with National Academy Foundation for Academies at Armwood, Brandon, Chamberlain, and Jefferson High Schools - $5,000 (Curriculum and Instruction Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
On February 13,1995, the School Board approved the Membership Agreement with the National Academy Foundation, a non-profit education organization that collaborates with the Florida Department of Education to provide support for the establishment of various academies of special curriculum focus. The career academies focus on career exposure and preparation at the high school level with the objective of eliminating barriers to create an interdisciplinary program to ensure student success in preparation for employment and higher education. Hillsborough County Public Schools benefit from this business partnership with the National Academy Foundation with successful academies at Armwood, Brandon, Chamberlain, and Jefferson High Schools. The Academy program enriches the connections of the participating high schools and the financial and information technology institutions that provide advisory committees, mentors, and job placement for academy students.
We request renewal of the Membership Agreement with National Academy Foundation and Armwood Academy of Finance, Brandon Academy of Finance and Academy of Information Technology, Chamberlain Academy of Finance, and Jefferson Academy of International Finance.
