Approve Renewal Agreement for Technical Services with Medical Direction Consultants, Inc. for Medical Director for the Emergency Medical Technician Program, Learey Technical Center, 2007/2008 - $18,000 (Curriculum and Instruction Division)

The Florida Bureau of Emergency Medical Services mandates that all approved Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) programs maintain program oversight by a Medical Director to ensure that all instruction meets the training and qualifications protocols.

A renewal Agreement for Technical Services has been developed with Medical Direction Consultants, Inc. for 2007/2008 to ensure continuity of program excellence with the designation of Joe A. Nelson as Medical Director. In addition to overseeing the program, the Medical Director serves as chair of the EMT advisory committee and as liaison with local emergency providers. The Medical Director actively participates monthly in teaching and verifying student competency hours as well as in the selection of program faculty and students. The Medical Director also maintains substantial knowledge in all aspects of emergency medicine in Florida, acts as a crew member on an Emergency Medical Services vehicle at least 10 hours per year, and participates in state and local quality assurance programs.
