Approve the Contract Between Tampa Bay Workforce Alliance, Inc. and Hillsborough County Public Schools Effective March 1, 2007 (Student Services and Federal Programs Division)

This contract provides funding in the amount of $33,756 from Tampa Bay Workforce Alliance, Inc. to provide child care and early education services for children of Hillsborough County participants enrolled in employment and training activities sponsored by the Workforce Investment Act. The contract was received in the Early Childhood School Readiness Programs’ office on March 15, 2007, as a replacement of the contract between OAO Technology Solutions, Inc. and Hillsborough County Public Schools, which was unexpectedly cancelled as of February 28, 2007. The contract with Tampa Bay Workforce Alliance, Inc. commences on March 1, 2007, and is in effect through June 30, 2007, thereby assuring uninterrupted child care services.

Goal 5 - The District will eliminate the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) achievement gap by a minimum of 10 percentage points as reported by No Child Left Behind.

Federal funds totaling $33,756 are contracted through Tampa Bay Workforce Alliance, Inc. for the provision of early education and child care services for children of families eligible for Workforce Investment Act employment and training activities. With the monthly average cost of child care at $317 per child, approximately 26 children will receive services during the contract term.

An annual program performance report is required within 30 days of completion of the contract year’s activity. The report will be provided to the Board as the evaluation tool to measure the effectiveness of this contractual agreement.
