Approve Adoption of Recommended Titles as State-Adopted Instructional Materials for HEALTH SCIENCE EDUCATION (Career and Technical Education)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The process for selection of state-adopted instructional materials for Health Science Education has been completed. The recommended titles are shown on the attached memorandum from Cosette G. Whitmore, Ph.D., Supervisor, Health Science and Public Service Education. The textbook committee studied and recommended the instructional materials according to District guidelines (Policy 4.16) which include:

ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)

Goal 1 - The percentage of students scoring at Level 3 or higher on FCAT reading will increase a minimum of 5 percentage points.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

These items may be purchased using categorical textbook funds included in the general operating budget for Curriculum and Instruction. The estimated cost of the textbooks for Health Science Education is $512,626.15.
