Approve Agreement for Technical Services with Stephen D. Banister for Implementation of Academy of Robotics and Multimedia Design, King High School - $5,433.27 (Curriculum and Instruction Division)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The SUCCEED Florida Career Academy grant funds the King High School Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) Academy of Robotics and Multimedia Design.

The Agreement for Technical Services with Stephen D. Banister, physics teacher and lead teacher for the career academy, includes specific services to generate requisitions for robotics integration; plan and implement two Grade 8 recruitment events and recruit a minimum of 80 students; organize an advisory committee of at least 20 Hillsborough Community College, University of South Florida, and industry representatives; design, market, enroll students, and implement a May 30 - June 2, 2007, summer robotics academy orientation seminar; and sponsor a LionFish Robotics Student Club after school and on weekends. Provider will also facilitate the construction of a student-produced Remote Operated Vehicle (ROV) for the 3rd Annual Florida ROV Competition scheduled for June 2007.
