EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The District is committed to providing support systems for new teachers. This mentor program is part of the teacher induction offered to new teachers in the District. Mentors attend informal training on the philosophy and expectations of the mentoring process as as they relate to the Florida Educators' 12 Accomplished Practices. Having this support system improves the effectiveness of new educators.
The mentor will work at Middleton High School with their new teachers. She will be providing 8-16 hours per week of face-to-face mentoring, maintain a log of mentoring activities as they relate back to the 12 Accomplished Practices, log her hours, model best practices for the new teachers, and recommend effective veteran teachers for the new educators to observe.
