Cancel Contract with Early Childhood School Readiness Programs and See Saw Junction Academy Inc. (Student Services and Federal Programs Division)

The contract with See Saw Junction Academy Inc. was approved on June 6, 2006, Agenda Item E5.21. This contract is being cancelled effective June 1, 2007, due to provider’s breach of contract by failing to earn a passing score on the Environment Rating Scale which assesses quality standards and is a requirement for maintaining contract eligibility. The term of the contract was July 1, 2006, through June 30, 2007.

Goal 5 – The District will eliminate the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) achievement gap by a minimum of 10 percentage points as reported by No Child Left Behind.

The total funding of $231,800 was to be used to provide education and care for approximately 51 preschool children at the annual rate of $3,800 per child and 20 school age children at the annual rate of $1,900 per child from eligible low income families. The federal/state grant funds are channeled to the district from the Florida Office of Early Learning and the Early Learning Coalition of Hillsborough County. Due to the cancellation of this contract, the remaining funds of $153,565 will be made available to providers assuming the care of the children currently enrolled at See Saw Junction Academy Inc.

No evaluation will be conducted due to this action being a contract cancellation.
