Approve Grant Application to Florida Department of Education, and if Approved, Accept Federal Carl D. Perkins Technical Education Grant Funds, 2007/2008 - Estimated Funds $2,923,694 (Career and Technical Education and Adult Technical Education)

The Florida Department of Education Division of Workforce Education requires school districts to submit consolidated proposals for the federal Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Technical Education Act of 2006 (Perkins III), CFDA #84.048. Funding proposals have been developed for 2007/2008 for secondary, postsecondary, and Tech Prep education.

Secondary Vocational Programs – Approximately $1,935,959

Postsecondary Vocational Programs – Approximately $737,615

Tech Prep Programs – Approximately $250,120

This Act provides for a one-year state transition plan (July 1, 2007 – June 30, 2008) followed by the five-year state plan (2008/2013). The project period is July 1, 2007, to June 30, 2008.

All District Goals and Critical Success Factors

If approved, grant funds of $2,923,694 will be included in the divisional special revenue/federal programs budget. Administrative costs are included in the grant budget.

Perkins performance measures are negotiated between the State and the Federal Government. The completed evaluation report for the 2007/2008 grant will be provided to the school district in April 2009.
