Approve Agreement for Technical Services with Robert Dorn Consultants - $699.12 (Curriculum and Instruction Division)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

We are requesting approval of the Agreement for Technical Services with Robert Dorn Consultants to provide consultant, Noreen Rodriguez, to develop and co-present an 18-hour workshop on Critical Thinking and Study Skills.

The newly revised Critical Thinking and Study Skills curriculum will be presented to new Language Arts and Reading teachers on June 11-13, 2007, at Armwood High School. The consultant will provide a thorough examination of materials, scope and sequence of the curriculum, materials and assessment protocols. In addition, all teachers who are assigned to teach this course will be invited to attend so they are prepared to begin instruction at the start of the 2007/2008 school year.

ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)

Goal 1 - The percentage of students scoring at Level 3 or higher on FCAT reading will increase a minimum of 5 percentage points.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

Funds of $699.12 are available in the K-12 Comprehensive Reading Plan Grant budget, Project 4526.
