SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS

Approve the No Child Left Behind Act, Title V Project Innovation Programs for the Period of July 1, 2007, through June 30, 2008 (Student Services and Federal Programs Division)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

An application for federal entitlement funds under Title V is submitted annually to the Florida Department of Education under the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. The Title V allocation of $321,637 along with our estimated roll forward will total approximately $450,000. The grant will provide necessary financial resources for 19 high schools and 37 middle schools with Student Intervention training, materials, and personnel support which are an integral part of our Unitary Status Plan. As required under federal law, the private school component (approximately $70,000) will assist in serving up to 37 eligible private schools to purchase audio visual materials, library books, computers, and software.

ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)

Goal 5 - The district will eliminate the FCAT achievement gap by a minimum of 10 percentage points as reported by No Child Left Behind.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

The $450,000 federal entitlement dollars are distributed through the Florida Department of Education in Tallahassee. This item is included in District Special Revenue/Federal Program Budget.

EVALUATION

The Title V office responds in the form of an Annual Report that will be sent to the state on 10/14/2007, which will include the results of the services provided to both the public and private schools.
