SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the Updated School Board Resolution in Support of the No Child Left Behind Improvement Act 2007, HR 648.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
In August 2006, the School Board of Hillsborough County passed a resolution to support the United States House of Representatives in considering legislation to modify the No Child Left Behind Act. The Board and district has since worked with congressional members and community leaders to support the reauthorization and to gain cosponsors to the bill.
This agenda item updates the Board’s 2006 resolution with the current bill number and title for the 110th Congress (HR 648).
The No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) was signed into law by President Bush in January 2002. Our Hillsborough County Public Schools have had five years of implementing NCLB. The United States House of Representatives is considering legislation again in the 110th Congress that will modify NCLB (HR648). We, as a district, support and encourage other local community and civic leaders to support the No Child Left Behind Improvement Act of 2007, HR 648.
