Approve Renewal Memorandum of Agreement with Mental Health Care, Inc. for Exceptional Student Education Services, July 1, 2007, through June 30, 2008 - $332,850 (Exceptional Student Education)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

State Rule 6A6.0306(4)(d)3 requires that the educational agency provide mental health counseling and parent involvement activities for severely emotionally disturbed (SED) and emotionally handicapped (EH) students. Since August 1994, the School District has contracted with Mental Health Care, Inc. (MHC) to provide therapeutic services for students and their families being served in these exceptional student education programs.

We are requesting approval of the renewal Memorandum of Agreement with Mental Health Care, Inc. for continuation of services for the period July 1, 2007, through June 30, 2008, for $332,850.

This agreement, along with additional services provided by MHC with funds from the Department of Children and Families and the School District Psychological and Social Work Services, provides psychiatric, respite, counseling, and after-school program services for approximately 650 EH/SED students through the District at 17 sites and wraparound services for the families.

ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)

Goal 5 - The district will close the FCAT achievement gap by a minimum of 10 percentage points as reported by No Child Left Behind.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

Funds of $332,850 are included in the divisional special revenue/federal programs budget for Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Project 1331.
