SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS

Approve Renewal Agreement for Technical Services with Linda B. Delapenha for Child Find Screening and Assessment, Florida Diagnostic and Learning Resources System (FDLRS) -$16,000 (Curriculum and Instruction Division)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Florida Diagnostic and Learning Resources System (FDLRS) participates in a monthly Developmental Screening initiative throughout our county. We are requesting approval of this renewal Agreement for Technical Services for the provider to conduct cognitive screenings at these events allowing FDLRS/Pre-K school psychologists to stay at their school sites conducting team evaluations.

FDLRS also participates in Pre-K assessment of at-risk children, 3-5 years of age, as well as child study team meetings for the Board of County Commissioners of Hillsborough County Head Start Program. This provider will conduct school psychological evaluations of these children with Pre-K teams when school psychologists are on leave or not available to pair with other team members week days or on weekends. This provides FDLRS with quality assessment and more flexibility in scheduling and bringing closure to cases and minimize or eliminate any Pre-K backlog. This contractor may, if needed, also attend Head Start managers' meetings that also allows our Pre-K school psychologists more time in assessment. This contractor has assisted FDLRS for several years and has provided valuable cost-effective assistance.

ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)

Goal 5 - The District will close the FCAT achievement gap by a minimum of 10 percentage points as reported by No Child Left Behind.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

Funds of no more than $16,000 are included in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Part B Entitlement budget, Project 1331, for this contract.
