Approve Renewal Interlocal Agreement for Educational Services with Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners for Fire Fighter Training by Learey Technical Center, 2007/2008 (Adult Technical Education)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Hillsborough County Fire Rescue has requested renewal of the Interlocal Agreement for Educational Services to provide training for their employees. Learey Technical Center successfully initiated training for Hillsborough County fire fighters in 1991 through an Interlocal Agreement for Educational Services with the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners. Annually 14,000 hours of training is provided to approximately 900 Hillsborough County fire department employees in the areas of fire fighting science and techniques, as well as emergency medical procedures.
We are requesting approval of the renewal agreement which has been developed with the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners for the period July 1, 2007, through June 30, 2008. This Interlocal Agreement is mutually beneficial for continuation of necessary fire fighter sciences training in Hillsborough County.

Funding for the classes conducted for the fire department is included in the District's Workforce Education funding allocation; also tuition is collected for each student contact hour. Postsecondary Adult Vocational (PSAV) funds are provided for new recruits and Continuing Workforce Education (CWE) funds are provided for incumbent fire fighters.
EVALUATION
Evaluation will be based on an analysis of the number of fire fighters trained and the number of Occupational Completion Points earned by June 30, 2008.
