Approve Third Amendment to Primary User Agreement with University Area Community Development Corporation, Inc., Two-Year Extension to Lease Agreement, 7/01/07-6/30/08 $130,794.60 and 7/1/08-6/30/09 $137,334.36(Adult and Community Education)

We request approval of the Third Amendment to the Primary User Agreement with University Area Community Development Corporation, Inc., to lease facility space at the University Area Community Center Complex for adult and community education classes, 2007/2009. Classes offered at this site include: Family Literacy, English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), Adult Basic Education (ABE)/General Equivalency Diploma (GED), and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program.

The third amendment provides a two-year agreement from July 1, 2007, through June 30, 2008, at a monthly rate of $10,899.55 ($130,794.60); and from July 1, 2008, through June 30, 2009, at a monthly rate of $11,444.53 ($137,334.36). These charges include utilities, security, and custodial services.

During the 2005/2007 school years over 1,414 adult students were enrolled in multiple classes at this site earning 564 completions. Additionally 212 students were served in fee-supported classes.

Rental expenses of $130,794.60 for 2007/2008 are included in the divisional workforce education budget. Funds for 2008/2009 will be budgeted in the divisional workforce education budget for 2008/2009. Cancellation provisions are included in the lease agreement.
