SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS

Approve Amendment #1 to the Interlocal Agreement with Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners for an Increase in Funding Totaling $146,461, October 1, 2006, through September 30, 2007 (Student Services and Federal Programs Division)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

We request approval of this Interlocal Agreement with Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) for the provision of education, health, parent involvement, and family services for income eligible children in the Head Start Program. Hillsborough County Public School’s Head Start Program has been in operation for 43 years as a Delegate Head Start agency and continues to provide comprehensive services to the 1,759 eligible 3, 4, and 5 year old children served. This interlocal agency agreement is in effect October 1, 2006, through September 30, 2007.

ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)

Goal 5 - The District will eliminate the FCAT achievement gap by a minimum of 10 percentage points as reported by No Child Left Behind.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

The amended total funding amount of $10,106,455 is provided through federal dollars allotted to the Head Start Grantee, BOCC, to provide Head Start services to eligible children within Hillsborough County Public Schools.

EVALUATION

This contract is reflected in financial statements which are audited annually by the Grantee, BOCC and audited every 3 years as prescribed by federal regulations. There is no district-generated revenue used for this program.
