Approve Agreement for Technical Services for Dr. Luther G. Johnson for Process Communication Training with the Superintendent's Staff (Business Office) Revised Attachments

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Dr. Luther G. Johnson is a nationally recognized expert in the area of process communication. Dr. Johnson uses the SYMLOG methodology and assessment instrument to guide staff through activities designed to enhance leadership and teamwork through values-based organizational change.

SYMLOG, an acronym for the System for Multiple Level Observation of Groups, represents both theory and method for defining and analyzing the interaction among group participants. Based upon Robert F. Bale's life work, SYMLOG provides efficient data-capture techniques allowing managers and interventionists to collect group member perceptions about the interaction in their work group or in the larger organization. Researchers are using SYMLOG in their investigations of group and organizational communication.

Dr. Johnson's work sessions focus on team and individual leadership assessment using the SYMLOG assessment tool. Follow-up sessions provide ongoing individual and team feedback focused on leadership goals and team dynamics.

Late August or early September is the targeted time frame for this training.
