SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS

Approve Renewal Cooperative Agreement with Kimmins Foundation, Inc. for Early Childhood Development Care, Family Literacy, and Workforce Development Programs, 2005-2006 (Adult and Community Education)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

For the past 11 years, Kimmins Foundation, Inc. has had a partnership with the district that provides for a family learning center at the site of their business, 1502 2nd Avenue, Tampa. Educational services provided by the district include adult basic education, GED preparation, pre-school program, and workforce readiness skills. In order to continue serving the preschoolers and adults, a renewal agreement has been developed which details professional services, insurance indemnification, and defines fiscal and professional responsibilities of the district and Kimmins Foundation, Inc. During the past year, 125 children and 100 adults were served at this site. The contract period is July 13, 2005, through June 30, 2006.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

Kimmins Foundation, Inc. provides the facility at no cost. The agreement calls for the district to share electrical cost of approximately $250 per month. Program operational costs for the Family Learning Center are included in the district special revenue/federal programs budget. There is no additional cost to the district.
