SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS

Approve the Contract Between the School District of Hillsborough County, Inc., School Readiness Program and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay Effective July 1, 2005 (Student Services & Federal Programs Division)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The contract provides for the delivery of child care services by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay for school-age children from low income, at risk families who are income eligible and participating in the Hillsborough County School Readiness Child Care Purchasing Pool program. The contract is in effect July 1, 2005 through June 30, 2006. The State delayed its final determination of allocating funds, thereby postponing the execution of this contract by 30 days. This is a partnership program which draws funds from local agencies that are matched at 100% by the Florida Office of Early Learning Executive Partnership.

ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)

Goal 5 - The district will eliminate the FCAT achievement gap by a minimum of 10 percentage points as reported by No Child Left Behind.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

The total funding of $700,000.00, subcontracted with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay for the School District of Hillsborough County School Readiness Child Care Purchasing Pool program, is expended for the provision of child care services for approximately 425 eligible school-age children. This item is included in the District Special Revenue/Federal Programs budget and does not impact Part 1 of the budget.
