SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve Adoption of Recommended Titles as Flexibility Instructional Materials for Career and Technical Education Firefighting Program (Career and Technical Education)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
We request approval to adopt the instructional materials listed on the attached memorandum from Cosette Whitmore, Ph.D., Supervisor for Health Science and Public Service Education, for the Career and Technical Education Firefighting Program. A district Instructional Materials Selection Committee evaluated and recommended these instructional materials in accordance with School Board Policy 4.16 and district guidelines which include the following:
- The selection committee shall follow the format, composition and criteria established by or compatible with those established by State Selection Committees.
- The selection committee is trained in the instructional materials evaluation process.
- The selection committee reviews and evaluates submissions using the Florida Department of Education instructional materials evaluation form.
- The selection committee through a consensus vote recommends instructional materials to be placed on the flexibility list for purchase.

These items may be purchased using categorical textbook funds in the general operating budget for Curriculum and Instruction. The estimated cost is $34,181.40.
