Recognition of the Students Honored by Duke Talent Identification Program as National Grand Level Honorees, 2010 (Middle School Education-Curriculum and Instruction Division)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Duke Talent Identification Program (TIP) identifies academically talented seventh-grade students based on standardized test scores. These students were invited to complete either the American College Test (ACT) or the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). These tests are the same college admissions exams administered to high school juniors and seniors. Seventh-grade students who score in the top 3% in the nation on the ACT or SAT receive National Grand Level Recognition and are invited to a ceremony at Duke University. This year, 67,389 seventh graders nationwide participated in TIP and 1,903 earned recognition as National Grand Level Honorees.

The SAT scores of the National Grand Level students met one of the following criteria:

  • Scored at least 670 out of 800 in Mathematics
  • Scored at least 650 out of 800 in Critical Reading
  • Scored at least 650 out of 800 in Writing
