Approve Agreement for Technical Services for Serenity Village - Center for Self Sufficiency; a Partnership Between Hillsborough County Public Schools Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP)(Student Services and Federal Programs Division)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

GEAR UP programs at Leto and Middleton High Schools will receive individual student counseling, access to resources, educational seminars, college fairs, and student mentoring by Serenity Village - Center for Self Sufficiency.

Serenity Village - Center for Self Sufficiency will assist the GEAR UP program when providing students with college awareness information.

* Increase promotion rates at all grade levels and the percentage of high school graduates, * Motivate students to become responsible learners

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

The cost of this agreement is $37,005 and will be paid using GEAR UP funds.

EVALUATION

Serenity Village - Center for Self Sufficiency will follow-up with parent meetings, student college applications, along with student/parent focus groups. The timeline for evaluation will be conducted in two school terms 2010/2011 and 2011/2012 with a possible extension of one year to follow up with graduating seniors.
