Approve the County Adoption of Recommended Titles as Flexibility Instructional Materials for Elementary and Middle School World Languages, Italian Program; Middle School and Secondary Mathematics Program (Elementary, Middle, and Secondary Education)

We request approval to adopt the instructional materials listed on the attached memorandums from Melissa Morgado, Supervisor for World Languages K-12, as flexibility materials for World Languages, Italian 1 and Italian 2; Janet Bauman, Supervisor, Middle School Mathematics, and Michael Smith, Supervisor, Secondary Mathematics, as flexibility materials for middle and secondary mathematics. District Instructional Materials Selection Committees evaluated and recommended these instructional materials in accordance with School Board Policy 4.16 and district guidelines which include the following:

• The selection committee shall follow the format, composition and criteria established by or compatible with those established by State Selection Committees.
• The selection committee is trained in the instructional materials evaluation process.
• The selection committee reviews and evaluates submissions using the Florida Department of Education instructional materials evaluation form.
• The selection committee through a consensus vote recommends instructional materials to be placed on the flexibility list.

These items may be purchased using categorical textbook funds in the general operating budget for Curriculum and Instruction. The estimated cost is $8,450 for World Languages and $1,365,297.45 for mathematics for a total cost of $1,373,747.45.
