SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the Adoption of Recommended Titles as State Adopted Instructional Materials for Elementary, Middle, and Secondary Mathematics (Elementary, Middle, and Secondary Education)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
We request approval to adopt the instructional materials listed on the attached memorandums from Lia Crawford, Supervisor, Elementary Mathematics, Janet Bauman, Supervisor, Middle School Mathematics, and Michael Smith, Supervisor, Secondary Mathematics, for state adopted mathematics materials. District Instructional Materials Selection Committees evaluated and recommended these instructional materials in accordance with School Board Policy 4.16 and district guidelines which include the following:
- The selection committee shall follow the format, composition, and criteria established by or compatible with those established by State Selection Committees.
- The selection committee is trained in the instructional materials evaluation process.
- The selection committee reviews and evaluates submissions using the Florida Department of Education instructional materials evaluation form.
- The selection committee through a consensus vote recommends instructional materials to be placed on a ballot for teacher vote. Sample sets of the materials are distributed to schools for teachers to review before voting.
- An official ballot is prepared and distributed to teachers for selecting their preferred choice of materials. Official ballots are returned in a sealed envelope to the Supervisor of Instructional Materials for tabulation.

These items may be purchased using categorical textbook funds in the general operating budget for Curriculum and Instruction. The estimated cost is $8,703,841.30 for elementary, $3,421,297 for middle school, and $3,772,511.80 for secondary for a total cost of $15,897,650.10.
