Recognition of Recent Construction Project Awards
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Steinbrenner High School, Strawberry Crest High School, Barrington Middle School and Stowers Elementary School were recently recognized for planning and design excellence.
All four schools received Awards of Excellence at the Hillsborough County Planning Commission's Community Design Awards announced on April 29.
- Steinbrenner High School (Sylla, Inc./HCBeck Ltd., architect) and the Barrington Middle School-Stowers Elementary School campus (Reynolds, Smith and Hills, Inc., architect) were recognized in the Master Planning and Urban Design category. This category recognizes projects that implement the community vision; promote good transportation and land use; are compatible with adjacent uses; and promote a long-range vision.
- Strawberry Crest High School (Long & Associates Architects/Engineers, Inc., architect) was recognized in the Institutional/Public projects category for an attractive design that effectively integrates with surrounding uses; enhances the neighborhood or region; is sensitive to surrounding uses; and promotes good planning.
In addition to the just-announced Planning Commission awards (and several other awards and recognitions previously reported), Strawberry Crest High School was also recently designated as the First Place Award winner in the high school category at the Florida Educational Facilities Planners' Association Architectural Showcase.
