EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
On November 3, 2009, the Board appointed the engineering firm of Matern Professional Engineering, Inc. to provide design services. The scope of work provides for the replacement of the existing cooling and heating plant with a new plant incorporating air cooled chillers and thermal ice storage tanks. The project also provides for the upgrade of energy management controls; replacement of air-handlers, ductwork, lights, and ceilings in Buildings 1, 2, 3, and 4; campus-wide power upgrades to support the new equipment; and correction of minor code deficiencies. The Board has previously approved the purchase of major equipment for the project.
The project was advertised and bids received (see attachment). Award of the contract as indicated on the attachment to the lowest qualified bidder, Walbridge Aldinger Company, is recommended.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)
Total funds in the amount of $2,805,437 are included in the District Capital Outlay: Local Millage. The contract amount being awarded is $2,728,000.
