SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve Purchase and Sale Agreement Between the School Board of Hillsborough County and Hillsborough County for Land Conveyance at the Off-Site Parking for Hillsborough High School for the Seminole Heights Branch Public Library Expansion Project
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Staff of the School Board of Hillsborough County has been working with both Hillsborough County and the City of Tampa regarding the reconstruction and expansion of the Seminole Heights Branch Public Library located adjacent to the School Board's Central Avenue Magnet Bus Ramp across from Memorial Middle School. The City has already completed its transfer of the library site to the County and the School Board's conveyance would be 0.44 +/- acre at the northern boundary of the Magnet Ramp (Exhibit "A"). This is an unused portion of land and this conveyance will not affect operation of the Magnet Bus Ramp. The County has completed an appraisal for the School Board portion and the current fair market value has been established at $54,300. The School Board conveyance will allow the County to demolish the library building and subsequently rebuild a larger structure and create additional parking.
It is recognized that a larger library facility would be an asset to the surrounding community and a benefit to students at nearby Hillsborough High School and Memorial Middle School, and that the subject land is unnecessary for educational purposes (Resolution Exhibit "B"). The Purchase and Sale Agreement (Exhibit "C") and supporting documentation have been reviewed by the School Board Attorney as to form and sufficiency.
ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)

The $54,300 purchase price will be receipted to Land Proceeds.
