Contract with W.W. Grainger utilizing the National Joint Powers Alliance (NJPA) for Facilities Maintenance Repair and Operating Related Supplies (MOR) (Business Division)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Procurement has the responsibility to initiate cost savings wherever possible. District policy allows purchases from contracts awarded by competitively solicited cooperatives. This practice reduces procurement administrative costs and provides lower prices for large agencies’ volume.

The results from a recent contract announced by NJPA provides a viable alternative for the district to procure various MOR supplies from a leading broad-line supplier of facilities maintenance products. W.W. Grainger is a global supplier with two local branches in Tampa that offer next-day delivery. The NJPA contract offers discounts of up to 60 percent off manufacturer's list pricing and allows for a rebate paid to the district based on annual expenditure increases. Based on district purchase history, it is anticipated the district will receive a rebate, beginning in 2011, of approximately $6,900. The NJPA contract is valid through 2014, subject to the Superintendent’s approval of renewals.
