Extended Day Program Opportunity for Students Attending Just Elementary, Potter Elementary, and B.T. Washington Elementary (Administration, Curriculum and Instruction, and Student Services and Federal Programs Division)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

In an effort to maximize academic instruction, the district will be partnering with local community agencies as well as utilizing supplemental federal and state funding to provide extended day learning opportunities to students attending Just, Potter, and B.T. Washington Elementary for the upcoming school year.

Current community partners in this effort include the Children’s Board and the Boys and Girls Club. Additional community partners are being secured for this effort. Along with community partners, the school district will provide services through the Hillsborough Out of School Time Program (HOST) as well as school and district instructional staff. The divisions of Curriculum and Instruction, Administration, and Student Services and Federal Programs will provide fiscal resources and curriculum development along with instructional and administrative support. The 21st Century Grant program will provide students with highly engaging and interactive activities and will compliment the multi-sensory curriculum being provided by the school and district staff.

An additional administrative unit will be provided for each school through federal sources to facilitate the implementation and coordination of the extended day program. The goal will be to effectively connect students’ learning from their day program to the instruction and enrichment offered during their extended day.
