EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
As part of the Empowering Effective Teachers project, a district committee comprised of ten teachers, one supervisor and two principals has created a peer evaluator evaluation rubric for the 2010/2011 school year. The Peer Evaluator Instrument consists of thirteen components, divided into four domains of professional practice. Rubrics are provided to evaluators so that the process will result in more consistent evaluations across the subgroup. Each peer evaluator’s evaluation will be comprised of a written evaluation by the supervisor (60%), and teacher feedback through surveys (40%). Presented in this item is the new written Peer Evaluator Form.
The Mentor Evaluation Instrument was created by a team of eight teachers, two supervisors and two principals. The Mentor Evaluation Instrument consists of sixteen components, divided into four domains of professional practice. Rubrics are provided to evaluators so that the process will result in more consistent evaluations across the group. Each mentor’s evaluation will be comprised of a written evaluation by the supervisor (60%), and teacher feedback through surveys (40%). Presented in this item is the new written Mentor Evaluation Form.
Charlotte Danielson is currently working with district staff to develop evaluations for other personnel, guidance counselors, adult education teachers, media specialists, etc., that will be used beginning in 2011/2012.
